Q: If you could classify your music in a genre or number of genres what would it be?

I would consider my music rock pop crossover.

Q: If you could use a tagline of less than 20 words to describe your music and who you are what would it be?

Celebrating the fun of being a teenager finding her way through this big world and Rockin’ all the way!

Q: What is your musical background?

It really is a funny story…I have always loved to sing…I would drive my brothers crazy because they said I would never shut up…I knew every song on the radio as soon as I started talking so my mom started listening to a lot of classical music.  When I was turning 7 my Nana asked my mom if she could give me vocal lessons for my birthday…the only stipulation was that she would have to take me back and forth…unknown to her she would still be doing that today 8 years later!  As far as my singing no one in my immediate sings (well maybe one of my younger brothers but he is so shy we don’t get to hear him very often). …and I mean know one…I think they think they can sing kidding.  I have heard my great grandfather though was an amazing singer…he sang in a German band in New Braunfels Texas so it must have come from him.  I also started playing piano a couple of years ago and some guitar…I haven’t perfected it yet but plan on to keep working on it.  Luckily when I write I hear the music in my head.

When I first started those vocal lesson’s I caught the attention of The Houston Chronicle and they came out to interview me after one of my shows and things just snowballed after that.  I have been blessed to have had some great things happen…I started out as a country singer (because I was so young when I started and I am from Texas and all)) and got to open for John Connelly because I won Best Singer in Texas.  I have thankfully won many contests and was one 0f America’s Most Talented Kids on The Maury Show and on Oprah’s web for Most Talented Kids.  I hope to continue to grow as an artist and become all I can be!

Q: How was 2010 for you?

It was great, I got to open for Hot Chelle Rae and JLS and debut my first EP on iTunes…but nothing compares to the New Year!

Q: Who inspires you musically?

Definitely Queen I love Freddie Mercury and Elvis the most, but also Taylor Swift for song writing and Brad Paisley for his passion.

Q: Which modern day artists do you look up to?

I look up to Selena Gomez a lot because she didn’t have to put herself out there in a bad way to get fans she just put her music out there and hoped for the best, and I really respect that!

Q: Is there anyone you would like to collaborate or gig with?

I would love to sing with Justin Bieber just cause he is really talented…and cute!

Q: What songs are on your iPod at the moment?

A lot of Skrillex, Brad Paisley, Lady Gaga, and Demi Lovato.

Q: What is your creative process for creating a track?

Really having fun with it, I cant be cooped up all alone by myself I have to experience it then write it down all that I write about has happened to me and I’m not ashamed of admitting it!

Q: What’s more important, melody or lyrics?

That’s hard! Well, honestly they are both just as important the melody has to be catchy to get people hooked, but the lyrics have to meaningful or else what’s the point of the song?

Q: Where are you based?

Houston, Texas.

Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?

Its hot and humid but I love Texas! But, it’s exciting because there are so many talented people here! You can get a little bit of everything here!

Q: What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on my second EP and I’m really excited for it to be finished and released!  We are thinking November 2011…It will Rock!

Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?

It was actually last week! I was at Willie’s (local restaurant) with my family and a mom and her son and daughter walked up our table and asked if I was Kaitlyn Knippers. They started singing my songs and telling me that they had my first cd and my posters hanging up in there rooms. That’s when I realized people liked my music and it was the best feeling in the world!

Q: What are you hoping to achieve in 2011?

I’m hoping to reach others with my music and inspire them to reach for there dreams, to get more of my songs on the radio to hit the charts, and have a success with my next album…. a tour, sounds sweet!

Q: Do you have any gigs or shows that you’d like to tell us about?

Well I have a Christmas show coming up at Six Flags Over Texas and will be in an up coming showcase for Women singer and songwriters of Houston.  Always looking for new venues to feature young upcoming artist.  My age sometimes gets in the way but I promise I can surprise any crowd J

Q: What do you do to relax?

I play with my puppies or read and listen to music! But staying busy helps me stay focused on my goals.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to let our readers know about?

Keep a look out for me in the future…new music, new shows and I hope to ROCK your world!  So connect with me facebook or twitter or any of my other sites… love to hear from you and thanks for getting to know me.
